Entrance Assessments for Entry to Form One (Year 8) in September 2014 at Rainey Endowed School.
Rainey Endowed School has now published its Admissions Criteria (click here) for entry to Form 1 (Year 8) in September 2014.
Parents wishing to apply for a place for their child for admission to Form 1 (Year 8) at Rainey Endowed School in September 2014 should read the Admissions Criteria carefully.
Application for admission to the school will be completed through the Transfer Process conducted by the appropriate Education & Library Board in February 2014.
The GL Entrance Assessments in English and Mathematics were held in Rainey Endowed School on Saturday 16 November 2013.
GLA Entrance Assessment Results
GLA Entrance Assessment Results, for pupils who sat the Entrance Assessments at Rainey Endowed School, were issued on Saturday 1February 2014. Unfortunately a number of children received incorrect scores due to a technical issue over the processing of the Results Slips by GL Assessment. Rainey Endowed School has already been in contact with parents of all pupils involved and new Results Slips have been issued.
Rainey Endowed School would like to apologise most sincerely for the upset which this has caused to the pupils and their parents, something which was totally beyond our control.
The following statement has been issued from GL Assessment:
“On Saturday 1 February 2014, results for the GL Assessment Entrance Assessment were issued to the parents/guardians of 6,964 candidates. Unfortunately, 34 of the 179 candidates who had taken the Entrance Assessment at Rainey Endowed School were initially provided with incorrect result slips, due to a technical fault at a very late stage in the process which was outside the control of the School. GL Assessment would like to apologise sincerely to the candidates affected by this error, and to their families.
As soon as the situation was made known to GL Assessment early on Saturday morning, steps were immediately taken to identify where the fault lay. It was very quickly identified that the marking of the assessments (using scanned answer sheets), the standardisation process and the calculation of all scores and grades were correct; instead, the problem lay in the generation of the results slips, one of the final stages in the process. GL Assessment is currently investigating how this error occurred. The centre was able to provide correct result slips for the 34 candidates later on Saturday morning after GL Assessment and Rainey Endowed School had been able to verify and confirm the new outcomes issued for those 34 candidates. GL Assessment subsequently went on to also verify and confirm the outcomes issued to all other candidates from this centre as well as those from all other centres.
Following a request from Rainey Endowed School, all Answer Sheets have now been rescanned and checked and there are no changes to any children’s scores or grades. Parents can be assured that all results slips now issued by GL Assessment for pupils who sat the Assessments at Rainey Endowed School are verified and correct.”
Parents have until 2.00 pm on Friday 14 February 2014 to request a re-mark. Parents who wish to avail of the Re-mark service, which is free of charge, are asked to complete, sign and return to the school, as soon as possible, the RM1 Form which is available from the school office or which can be downloaded from the website (click here).
