Bring it On.

Designed to generate a positive attitude towards the ICT industry, the BringITon events are aimed at pupils studying subjects such as ICT/Computing or Technology, Mathematics and the Sciences to encourage them to consider computing as a career choice. Pupils were informed about the exciting career options available within the ICT sector through presentations, videos, fun quizzes and group exercises which provided:-

  • key information about the skill requirements and career opportunities within the ICT sector in NI
  • an understanding of the business of real companies operating in the ICT sector.
  • the variety and attractiveness of a career in ICT
  • information on studying computing at university and understanding of the qualifications required to join the industry

This event is one of many activities organised for schools under The BringITOn Campaign which is supported by the Department for Employment and Learning and delivered in partnership with e-skills UK and with assistance from The Higher Education Academy Subject Centre for ICT, Queen’s University, the University of Ulster, Engineering UK and leading companies in the local ICT industry.

Head of ICT at Rainey Endowed, Jonnie Palmer said:

A thoroughly interesting, interactive and informative day. Pupils heard from University Students studying for their PHDs, representatives from the University of Ulster and current ICT professionals working in the industry.

All the information was delivered in an interactive and thought provoking way. Pupils from Schools across the Magherafelt Learning Partnership benefited greatly from the experience.”
