Year 12 Business Studies pupils had the opportunity on Friday 10th October to visit the Toome offices of Uform. Uform distribute kitchen doors throughout the UK & Ireland. Pupils had a talk in the boardroom from Mr Eamon Donnelly, MD, about entrepreneurship and the company’s vision.
Joanne Preston, Customer Service manager, brought pupils around the award winning showroom containing 32 kitchen displays, a rare treat, as the showroom is only open to trade customers.

Mr Simon Oliphant, General Manager and former Rainey pupil, took pupils on a tour of the distribution warehouse and spray facility where doors can be sprayed any colour the customer wishes – some of our pupils even had a go at spraying some doors! Throughout the visit pupils learnt about Health & Safety in the business and the importance of quality – not only in the final product but in all service areas of the business. Pupils saw the customer service Uform provide, especially the monitoring of telephone calls, including the computer display of calls received which highlighted average waiting time and the number of calls taken by staff. Miss Victoria Bell, Marketing Executive, another former Rainey pupil, escorted pupils on their tour.
Pupils and the Business Studies teachers would like to once again thank all the staff at Uform for the hospitality we were shown and for the effort that everyone in the company went to in order to make the visit as informative as possible.
