The Rainey is already a school that participates in many sports, especially with renowned hockey and rugby teams throughout the years. This year Gaelic Football has been added to the list thanks to the coaching of Mr Mc Keown and professional coach Matthew Kerr. After school Gaelic football sessions have been occurring now for the last 6 weeks with pupils showing a keen interest, including pupils who are unfamiliar with the sport.

Mr Mc Keown and Matthew Kerr are eager to progress the schools Gaelic team into competitive football with other schools. Both coaches are former pupils of the Rainey and they are very proud and humble to initiate this opportunity for our pupils.
Finally, the Rainey Endowed would like to say congratulations to O’Donovan Rossa GAC, Magherafelt, for their brilliant achievement on winning the under 14 Derry Féile competition. The game was a tough encounter between two evenly matched teams, with Magherafelt prevailing by a single point (3-09 to 3-08). The Rainey is also privileged to have three pupils, Oisín, Tom and Leon (not pictured) playing on the winning team and their fantastic achievement has been recognised within the school. It is also great to see these pupils partake in the developing Rainey Gaelic Football squad
