Today we had the opportunity to get involved in Abbanas street reach project we facilitated and took part in activities such as Jenga, dancing, skipping, making bracelets and playing games. We also had the opportunity to help service lunch to the street boys
After street reach we came back to guest house for a lovely lunch of sandwiches prepared by Auntie Fi and the kitchen team. We also took the opportunity to practice our presentation for the boys and staff at the New life homes.
When we arrived at the New Life Homes We were warmly welcomed by the boys who preformed a skit which explained the hope that Abaanas New Life Home has brought them. They followed this by some singing and dancing. The boys also gave us a tour and we got the opportunity to see their bed, garden, dining room, kitchen and projects which included pig rearing. Afterwards we gave our performance which was a very tuneful rendition of seek ye first and ‘Rainey’s call’. We then taught the boys some northern Irish line dances and even the teachers got stuck in! Afterwards we formed ‘family’s’ with the boys and started preparing the performances for tomorrow.
When we arrived back to the Abaana guesthouse we enjoyed a delicious beef stew for our dinner followed by a debrief where we shared about our experience of street reach and new life homes.
