At 8am this morning we had breakfast, in the guest house – Coco Pops and Crunchy Nuts went down a treat. After a meeting to discuss our day we headed out to a local remand centre to meet children in conflict of the law.
Our group split into 3 smaller groups each with a different task, working together with the children we met. We helped by cleaning the pig pens, cleaning the rabbit pens and printing logos onto the shirts. After two hours of hard work in the sun we had a goodbye ceremony by the principle and children. Before heading back to the guesthouse for lunch (Auntie Fi cooked up a storm).
After our lunch at the Abaana Guest house, we headed out to visit the Abaana New Life Homes, where young male street kids are brought in and given care and education. The Rainey team showed off our singing skills with ‘Amazing Grace’ and a Rainey rendition of ‘Ireland’s Call’. We were then treated to the boys’ spectacular dancing, with them ensuring us they were ‘all the vibes’. Everyone on the Rainey team was heavily involved in the group activities and can’t wait to head back out tomorrow to participate in group challenges with the boys.
