This Sunday morning the team had the wonderful opportunity to attend a traditional Ugandan church in Mbale. When we arrived it was interesting to see the special outfits that all of the adults and children wore for the occasion. As we entered the church, an energetic choir of church members sang and danced to many songs. We happily reciprocated by singing our songs to them. The congregation were very appreciative of this and greeted us warmly after we all introduced ourselves.
Following this, a group of teenagers performed an act from the Bible. The preacher introduced himself then read from Genesis and spoke passionately about Eden and God’s creation of the world. There were plenty of hymns and singing breaks between these events which kept us on our feet. To finish, we ended in prayer and then left the church, everyone saying their thanks and farewells. Attending the church was an incredible experience and something that we’ll never forget.
We then travelled to the Mbale Resort and Hotel to enjoy a delicious plate of chicken and chips. The pool was a welcome sight to us after a very hot week. Surrounded by impressive mountain scenes everyone enjoyed an stress-free afternoon with many cannonballs and front flops of varying degrees of success.
After enjoying another excellent evening meal, we divided into groups to decide the teaching and building groups for tomorrow, accompanied by a dramatic thunderstorm.
