All Ireland Swimming Success for Simon
As a result of obtaining the qualifying times for both the 50m Butterfly and Backstroke events at the Swim Ulster Schools meet in October 2015, Simon Matterson attended the Irish Schools Finals competition which was held in the National Aquatic Centre in Dublin. The best Swimmers from all 4 provinces in Ireland were represented at Under 11 and Under12 age Groups.
In the qualifying heats Simon swam two Personal Best times securing a place in the finals in both his events. In the Backstroke final he finished in 7th place with a time of 36.79s. This proved to be a good warm up event for the Butterfly Final which was an extremely closely contested race in which Simon managed to win with a new PB of 33.83s, beating his nearest rival from Munster by a massive 0.02s!!
