Recently, GCSE Business Studies students visited Ditty’s Bakery, Castledawson, in order to gain some essential information for their Controlled Assessment. The visit started off with a general overview of the business by Mr. Robert Ditty.

The pupils learnt about the origins of the company, how it has grown and recent innovations including the growth of e-commerce and the new investment in their stock control system allowing for effective traceability in their products. Pupils then had a very interesting tour of their bakery from the storage of the raw materials through to the finished product being packaged. At the end of the tour, Ditty’s provided us with a wonderful array of tray bakes, biscuits and juice! The visit proved invaluable to the students as they were able to gather much needed information such as how technology has impacted on the business and the importance of training in the Bakery. Many thanks to Mr. Robert Ditty and his staff who gave up time from their busy schedule to provide such an interesting visit.
