Safety Matters
Pupils, with the approach of winter and darker evenings, please consider the following important points.
• Be careful crossing Rainey Street – use the crossing lights; do not run out between buses and cars.
• Be observant when crossing roads; you should not be wearing earphones, texting or chatting on your mobile. Be aware of the traffic and your surroundings.
• Watch when you get off a bus – check for traffic. Wear something bright or stick a reflector onto your school bag so you can be seen.
• Take care going to and from Meadowbank; wear tracksuit bottoms and walk with friends where possible.
• Make sure you let someone at home know if you change your after-school plans; tell them what you are doing and where you are going.
• If someone you don’t know offers you a lift in a car, say ‘No’. Let your parents or teacher know this has happened.
• Trust your feelings; if someone makes you feel scared or uncomfortable, get away as fast as you can and seek help from a trusted adult.
