School Hockey History Made

The Rainey Endowed girls have made school history this hockey season as all four cup teams, the 1STXI, 2NDXI, 3RDXI and U14 Junior Team have reached the semi final stage of their cup competitions.

In the Belfast Telegraph Schools Cup, the 1STXI have had a tough cup run against Sullivan Upper, Wallace High School and Limavady Grammar School in the ¼ finals to achieve a place in the Semi-final.

They will have to wait for the cup draw on Wednesday 9 February between Rainey Endowed, Methodist College, Ballyclare High School and Royal School Armagh to see who their opponents will be in the semi-final, on Wednesday 23 February, at Lisnagarvey Hockey Club.

In the McDowell Cup the 2NDXI played Foyle College, Regent House, and Victoria College to successfully proceed to the semi-finals. They are waiting on the result between Coleraine Grammar and Portadown College to see their opponents in the semi-final.

In the Gibson Cup the 3RDXI played Glenlola Collegiate and Friends School Lisburn and will play Strathearn College in the semi-final.

The Junior Cup has seen the U14 Team play Larne Grammar, Cookstown High School, Ballymena Academy and Friends School Lisburn to earn a place in the semi final against Royal School Armagh.

The girls have showed great commitment to training and enjoyed a great season so far. The school would like to thank all the coaches, umpires, sponsors and parents for their continued support and enthusiasm and wish all the teams well in their competitions.
