On Friday 26th February a group of U13 and U14 rugby players attended a Health and Wellbeing event at Ravenhill. This event was organised by the Public Health Agency as part of Rugby in the Heart of the Community Programme. On arrival the boys were lucky enough to watch Ruan Pienaar and Paddy Jackson practice their kicking.

The boys started the event by attending a Healthy Eating Workshop, learning about all the foods that are required to make them successful athletes. They then had a physical activity session that was aimed at developing their flexibility. They had first-hand experience of how equipment like foam rollers can improve performance.
A tour of the Kingspan Stadium followed. Particularly impressive was the gym, were the boy’s watched Ulster player Peter Nelson being put through his paces. After a healthy lunch they then attended a second workshop. This time they learnt about Building Resilience and Developing a Positive Mind set.
A visit to the impressive Nevin Spence centre concluded the trip. We would like to thank the professional staff at Ravenhill for inviting Rainey to this event. The boys gained a lot from the visit and thoroughly enjoyed the wide range of variety of activities.
