Success for Laura at the Atlantic Challenge International Contest of Seamanship
Well done to Laura Lynch, year 13, who was part of the Northern Ireland team which competed in and won, the Atlantic Challenge International Contest of Seamanship held on Lough Neagh in Antrim 20th – 28th July 2018. This is a fantastic achievement. They did extremely well, winning or coming 2nd in many of the events, showing determination, skill and teamwork throughout the competition.
There were 11 wooden gigs from USA, Russia (2), Belgium (2), Denmark, Ireland, Great Britain, France, Quebec and Northern Ireland which took part in sailing, rowing, oars and sails races, navigation, rope work, slalom racing and other seamanship manoeuvring challenges over the 8 days.
Congratulations, Laura!
