Synagogue Visit

Synagogue Visit

On Monday 18th October 39 Religious Studies Students from the Rainey paid a visit to the Belfast Synagogue. This was to help pupils gain a fuller understanding of Judaism, its history, traditions and methods of worship. The pupils were met by Mr. Neville Finch, a representative of the Synagogue council. He gave pupils a tour of the synagogue and gave them a very full overview of Jewish life and worship.

This included the use of numerous religious artefacts including, the Kippah, Tallit and the Siddur prayer book. After the talk pupils had the opportunity to ask questions and topics covered included the decline of the Jewish community in Belfast and what is the main teaching of the Jewish Religion. The pupils really enjoyed the visit and it was a very valuable learning experience. The pupils and teachers would like to thank Mr Finch for giving his time so generously.
