Lower Sixth Applied Business and Upper Sixth A2 Business Studies students attended an industrial visit to Tobermore Concrete this month where they were given a very informative tour of the HESS plants.

During the visit, various departmental managers provided a detailed presentation in relation to the operation of the company. This presentation was ideally tailored to incorporate most aspects of the A2 Business Studies syllabus.

However, the tour was also designed to allow the Lower Sixth Applied Business class to carry out research into why Tobermore are considered to be a brilliant example of a local enterprising business. In addition, this visit allowed the students to relate theory in the classroom to a real life situation in the workplace.

This visit to Tobermore Concrete was an invaluable insight into the day-to-day running of a large scale business in the construction industry.  Yet again, The Business Studies department would like to thank Tobermore Concrete for providing such an informative, interesting and enjoyable industrial visit allowing pupils to see that content learnt in the classroom actually does happen in the real world!
